+ WHAT IS VIRTUOUS CON?
Virtuous Con is an online sci-fi and comic culture convention that celebrates the excellence of BIPOC creators in speculative fiction across the media of comics, books, film, visual arts, and more. Our convention provides a truly interactive experience that is focused on bringing independent artists and avid fans together. Virtuous Con fans will get the chance to meet, talk with, and support indie comic book creators, adult and children’s fiction authors, visual artists, graphic novelists, craftsman and women, and creators across the genres of horror, fantasy, science fiction, and everything in between!
+ HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Virtuous Con is just $30 for both days for fans everywhere!
+ WHEN IS VIRTUOUS CON?
In 2024, we plan to host several Virtuous Con events, each centered around a different theme or focus. Our next event is February 23-25, 2024. In recognition of Black History Month, Virtuous Con will celebrate Black artists and creators who are creating expansive narratives of Black people throughout the various media of speculative fiction. Our theme for this year's event is The Future Is Ours.
+ IS THIS JUST ANOTHER ZOOM CONFERENCE?
Not Even Close. When we say interactive, that’s exactly what we mean. Virtuous Con is a virtual space where you can browse virtual tables, meet artists “face-to-face”, and have a real conversation. Check out this demo for just a glimpse of what the experience is like.
+ HOW CAN I EXHIBIT AT VIRTUOUS CON?

+ HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO EXHIBIT AT VIRTUOUS CON?
The virtual booth fee (yes, you will have a “real” table, not just a link!) is $130 for both days of the show. Each event runs between 6-8 hours per day.
+ WILL YOU HAVE PANELS AND WORKSHOPS AT VIRTUOUS CON?
YES!! From authors to comic creators and visual artists to cosplayers–Virtuous Con will provide a wide range of eye-opening, thought-provoking, and fun content. If you have an idea for a panel you’d like to run, please fill out our Panel Submission Form. All panels will be selected by the end of January 2024.
+ WHAT'S WITH THE "VIRTUOUS" THING?

First, virtuous is a play on virtual and what we’re trying to accomplish with virtual conventions, which often lack the interaction that is at the heart of the true con experience. You’ll be able to talk with indie artists and ask them questions (not just listen to a Zoom panel and type your questions into the chat). You’ll be able to meet cosplayers and hang out with your friends (yes, there will be a virtual lounge where you can have a private/face-to-face conversation!).
Second, one of the many things we adore about cons is the love and support that indie artists and fans give each other. For us, it is a virtuous circle of mutual respect, admiration, genuine caring, and generosity, and we’ve missed it a lot this year. We hope we can give some of that back to the community of fans and artists that we love so much.
Third, no, this isn’t a religious con, though finding a great book or discovering amazing art may feel like a religious experience. Don’t believe us? Check out the artists at Virtuous Con!
Fourth, we believe in giving back–to our community–to our world. So, while Virtuous Con is free for fans, when you sign up, you will have the opportunity to donate to a number of selected charities that are important to us and address some of the most pressing problems of our times.
+ WHY DO YOU NEED MY EMAIL?
When you pre-register/register for Virtuous Con, we ask for your email because:
A.) It allows us to get a sense of who is coming (so we know what our virtual capacity will need to be for the event),
B.) It allows us to send you the log-in link for the event you signed up for, as well as the program agenda, and notices of special offers, etc.,
C.) We can send you notices of future Virtuous Con events you might be interested in, AND
D.) If you are one of those people who don’t know how to act online, your email allows us to identify you and kick you out of the event, for the duration of the con or permanently from any Virtuous Con - ever. (That’s for real. We don’t tolerate misconduct.)
+ WHAT MAKES VIRTUOUS CON A BETTER EXPERIENCE FOR ARTISTS?
Virtuous Con is a virtual con that focuses on indie artists in comics, graphic novels, visual arts, books, and crafts. Our goal is to create a space where artists and fans can truly interact with and support each other. In addition to the virtual cons that we host, the Virtuous Con “space” is also available for rent to other fan groups, artists, publishers, and promoters in the indie community who would like to host their own events. Rental prices will vary based on the size, duration, and customization desired for each event.
