Sarah Jefferson Carter

Sarah Jefferson Carter is a writer, director, and the Chief Creative Officer and cofounder of Rhythm & Noise Productions, where she specializes in crafting bold, imaginative genre stories that center diverse voices. With over 20 years of experience in the film industry—both in the studio system and independently—Sarah brings deep, hands-on knowledge of the creative and practical steps it takes to develop and produce impactful stories, especially in fantasy, sci-fi, and historical drama.

Her feature screenplay Of Thistles & Rye was a quarter-finalist in the prestigious 2017 Academy Nicholl Fellowships, and her short film Black Out reflects her passion for building immersive, character-driven worlds where women of color are powerful, complex, and central to the story. Most recently, Sarah created and directed the epic fantasy series Queendom Come, which completed its first season and premiered on Tubi June 1, 2025.
